Enduring Legacy

In today’s world, the cost of college continues to rise and giving back is our way of ensuring others experience what we have.

Michael Luchun ’89 works at Fidelity Investments and lives in Glocester, RI with his wife Christine ’89, ’93G, a retired teacher and administrator. Both Michael and Christine hold fond memories of their time at Providence College, where they first met. Christine recalls her college years giving her foundational life experiences, including her first job and lasting friendships. Michael echoes this sentiment, stating that his time at PC was invaluable, providing him with lifelong friends and his lifelong partner. Their shared love for Providence College and the impact it had on their lives fuels their continued involvement and generosity toward the institution.

In November 2023, the Luchuns established the Abigail Grace Luchun Endowed Scholarship Fund to honor their late daughter, Abigail Grace Luchun. Abby brought immense joy to many and left a profound mark on everyone she met. To ensure her legacy continued, Michael and Christine created the endowed fund a few years after her passing. “When she left us, we didn’t want that impact to leave so we established an endowment in her name, allowing the impact she made to carry on,” Christine explained. This endowed fund serves as a testament to Abby’s enduring influence and the Luchuns’ desire to support others in her memory in perpetuity.

For over a decade, Michael and Christine have been dedicated donors to Providence College, driven by their wish to help others enjoy the same transformative experience they had. Aware of the rising costs of higher education, they see their contributions as a way to ease financial burdens for future students. Christine, one of the college’s first elementary education students, is particularly passionate about supporting PC’s diverse academic programs. Their annual donations to The Fund for Providence College reflect their commitment to fostering an environment where students thrive both academically and personally.

Michael and Christine’s connection with Friartown is a true labor of love, extending to initiatives like Friars Give, where they foster engagement with the college community. Christine, known for her competitive spirit, was thrilled to offer a challenge gift for the class of 1989 during Friars Give, encouraging others to contribute and strengthen their bond with the college.

The Luchuns’ experience at Providence College was marked by a transformative education, faith, and the cultivation of lifelong friendships — and they know their philanthropic efforts will help extend those same opportunities to current and future students.
