From PC to Public Service

Jeremy Cumplido ’25 double majored in political science and history with a minor in Latin American studies. He seized every opportunity during his time at PC, including a pivotal internship in Congressman Gabe Amo’s newly established office. When a career coach in the Chirico Career Center flagged the last-minute opening, Jeremy quickly applied and secured the role. He helped build the office from the ground up, managing constituent calls, conducting research, and collaborating with fellow interns.  That experience led him to a nonprofit organization that serves Rhode Island’s Andean cultural community, where he expanded his role in public service. Faculty mentors like Rev. Christopher Justin Brophy, O.P., director of the Center for Catholic and Dominican Studies and assistant professor of political science, and Dr. Thea N. Riofrancos, associate professor of political science, championed Jeremy’s growth, offering guidance and support that led to transformative opportunities.

Donors to The Fund for Providence College empowered Jeremy to pursue internships and build relationships that will define his future. Their generosity gave him access to experiences that deepened his education and expanded his network. “The Fund for Providence College made it possible for me to be thoroughly educated in both the liberal arts and in personal relationships,” Jeremy said. “It has also given me the ability to craft meaningful connections with people who will be a crucial part of my future.” Jeremy asserts that he would not have been able to attend Providence College without scholarship support. That financial assistance not only made his education possible but also opened the door to the experiences and relationships that have shaped his future. Thanks to donor generosity, he graduated with confidence, purpose, and deep gratitude for the community that helped him thrive.
